Using Client Assessments: The Right Tool at the Right Time

In addition to the coaching conversation, coaches can leverage the use of assessments and exercises to provide additional insight and increase the client’s self-awareness as to priorities, values, needs, strengths, personality, behavior, and interpersonal preferences. The use of such tools could prove to be extremely valuable when chosen appropriately but knowing when, how and why to integrate these tools into your practice is integrally dependent on the client, the client’s goals, and the coach-client engagement.

In this class, you'll get the information you need to help understand the role of assessments, activities, and exercises as tools in the coaching engagement and how best to use them as an added value to your practice while avoiding the pitfalls associated with their overuse.

At the conclusion of this class, participants will be able to:

1. Understand 3 key differences between an assessment, an activity and an exercise as tools in the coaching process.

2. Identify 3 evaluative qualities when considering the use of an assessment tool in your coaching practice.

3. Identify 3 client benefits to utilizing effective tools as an added value to the client coaching engagement.
